Big Scout Project

Photo Essay #9: The First 48 in Vegas

If you take a year off, it’s only fitting that you spend a little time explaining where you’ve been and what you’ve done.

It was actually a pretty full year. I learned how to row. I started painting. I lost 20 lbs. (and gained it back, just so I can lose it again this year). I studied Behavioral Economics in earnest. I played lots of gigs and wrote a passel of songs. I went back to the same beach town where the Big Scout Project started.

All of which come in later posts.

But last June I took a quick trip to Las Vegas with one of my best friends to celebrate her birthday. In spite of record heat (117 by day, 99 by night), this freak show of a town was surprisingly good medicine.

The Venetian’s Casino by day.

We didn’t gamble. We didn’t do anything crazy. We just hoofed it up and down the Strip, stopping to take pictures and eat incredibly good food.

We enjoyed an incredible meal at the Eiffel Tower overlooking the Bellagio's fountains.

And if I’ve time everything just right, as this post goes live I’ll be back in Sin City with my same great friend, exploring new corners and taking fresh photos of this over-the-top playground.

Come feel the fun.

Here’s the collection from my first 48 hours on the photo blog.

Back next week with more tales from the past year. Unless I strike it rich.
