Playing for keeps at SXSW 2013.

Each year, a whole slew of us here in Austin tend to hunker down and wait out the 10 day chaos that is SXSW. I typically play a few local showcases and otherwise stay home to avoid the lines, the traffic, the massive population influx.

But this year I ventured out one night to see what I was missing. I caught the Flaming Lips show at Auditorium Shores, then tooled around the Warehouse District and 6th Street.

The crowds were even thicker than I’d imagined; I found myself wanting to stay on the outskirts of everything, and it was an act of will to venture into the madness.
